GENERAL RULES
OOC Account
When registering for the first time, register with an OOC account. This is an out of character account that will be used for announcement purposes. This account should use the same name you plan to use on the chat box. Upon registering for the first time, you may refer to the new member guide before asking any questions of the staff or other members. (Please note that staff would prefer all questions to go through them, directly).
Activity Standard
Here on KoK, we call "being active" posting at least three times a week, if not more. However, major canon roles need to be posted with as much as possible, due to the importance they hold in furthering the plot. We leave this number un-issued, because three times a week to some is just enough, while to others they may want to post more. It really will depend on how you handle your characters and your thread amount. If, for whatever reason you need to be away and you hold a major canon role (such as head of council or second-in-command of the Left Hand) please PM Grant and Vee in a joint message and let them know how long you will be unable to post.
Word Count
Here on Kingdom of Khandor, we have a 100 word minimum for all IC threads.
Character Accounts
When you decide to register your first character account, please register with only the character's first name. This allows tagging to be easier. After registration you need to change your character account's display name to have the character's first and last name, in that order. After that, the staff recommend going ahead and filling out your character's mini-profile, which you can find a guide for on our character creation guide.
Face Claims/Avatars
Face Claims for characters must be a real-life person. Artwork for avatars can be artwork for OOC accounts, but must be the Face Claim of the character for Character accounts.
Mini Profiles
Please fill out your Mini Profiles in your Character accounts as soon as possible after they are accepted. Mini Profiles should contain any information that another member would want/need to know in an IC situation or for character development only. Information for personal character organization such as thread trackers/availability can be in their signature, but should not be in the Mini Profile.
If you have questions about filling out the Mini Profile, contact Vee or Grant
Absences/Inactivity
Real-life happens and real-life comes first, that is our stance! That said, we do ask that if you foresee yourself being gone or scarce for a period of time to please let us know with a post in the Absences Board out of respect for those who are plotting with you! If it is very unexpected and you cannot post on the board, please send Vee and Grant a quick message as soon as possible to let us know. This is important to note because if there is a complete absence for 1 month without any sort of notification will result in your characters being made INACTIVE and their information moved to the Inactive Board.
After 1 year of inactivity, with no contact, character accounts will be removed.
CODE OF CONDUCT
On the Kingdom of Khandor, we strive to ensure we maintain a fun, engaging, welcoming, and relaxed roleplay environment. However, we are aware that sometimes things can get heated an tempers flare (we are all human after all! or we should be anyways...). We ask that all members remain respectful to fellow members and try to solve disputes quickly and reasonably, especially considering that this is all fake and made up and does not really matter. If you cannot come to a consensus, or have concerns about member interactions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the staff. We are here to help as much as we can, but keep in mind we are not miracle workers either. If there are repeated issues with specific individuals that make it impossible for the majority of the site members to engage in a happy and comfortable environment, the staff may ask that individual to leave/ban them depending on the severity of the issue.
Additionally, to keep this a safe and fun place to be, the staff has a no-tolerance policy for any of the following:
- Hate speech
- Harassment
- Threatening messages or behavior
IC RULES
Character Names
Characters must have a first and last name. Feel free to draw inspiration from any cultural source, but per the Victorian theme, maintain a traditional or fantasy spelling that does not break the theme of the site. If you have any questions, PM Vee about your names.
Character Interactions
The only characters that you can control are your own. If you force something to occur to another member's character, which we call "bunnying" here, it must be done with permission and noted at the top or bottom of your post that it was received. This includes, but is not limited to, killing, maiming, crippling, moving another person's character.
This is very important as the capabilities of some character types are incredibly high powered. Be mindful that while your character may have immense power, you must still work collaboratively with fellow members in using it.
Power Levels/Over Powered Abilities
As mentioned, some character types at a certain point have a tendency to be Over-Powered - or have abilities that make it difficult to be hurt, killed, controlled/could technically easily hurt, kill, control those around them. There are very few characters who start out at these upper levels and those who have worked up to it have done just that - they have earned that power. Be mindful of where your character is and if you want them to be stronger we encourage you to post with them more so they can grow!
Canons
Canon characters are important to the overarching plot of the Kingdom of Khandor. If you wish to claim a Canon, you must discuss the character with Vee and Grant in a combined chat first. We ask that any wishing to claim a Canon role remember the integral role these characters play, and only do so if they feel they can manage that responsibility.
Plots
We encourage all our members to plot with each other and develop story arcs for their characters. That said, if you have a plot in mind that would drastically impact the main plot of the site, please reach out to Vee and Grant first to see if it fits in. We are very open to ideas and input so let us know if you come up with something!
NPCs/Killing Characters
NPCs (Non-Playable Characters) are an important part of a roleplay environment because we can't possibly play every single man, woman, and child that makes up the world. That said, we ask that NPCs be used for the exclusive purpose of enhancing a plot or the roleplay environment and not as a means of "disposing" of characters you no longer wish to play. If a character no longer interests you kill them and make it fun! The admins are happy to plot with you to make it something epic to send your character off to character heaven (or hell, maybe they are evil) with a bang!
On a similar note, if you do plan to kill of your characters, as a courtesy to your fellow members, we ask that you notify those you have plots with in advance of offing your characters. It's just a nice thing to do.
