GENERAL RACE OVERVIEW
OVERVIEW
In the context of the Kingdom of Khandor, race refers to "species" type (Human, Cyborg, Blutsauger, or Lycanthrope) and not a specific skin tone or ethnicity. Khandorians as a whole are ethnically diverse and while Humans, Cyborgs, Blutsaugers, and Lycanthropes have some minor visible differences, by-and-large they are indistinguishable by sight alone. It is this lack of strong visible differences that has allowed the three races to coexist in relative peace and, in the case of Lycanthropes, the continued existence of the three groups.
GENERAL NOTES
- All races can produce offspring with the other races
- All visibly defining race characteristics are MINOR (no giant fangs, no tails or claws). Cyborg is the only exception to this.
- All races have equal opportunity, meaning any could be rich, poor, powerful, weak, etc.
- All races are capable of carrying and passing on magic. However, magic carriers are the most oppressed of society which will automatically demote a characters status. Cyborgs are currently restricted from carrying magic.
RACIAL COMPATIBILITY
Note: Magic is considered a trait or class of people, not a race, but Magic is the most dominant gene. There for any magical person will have magical offspring, regardless of if the other parent carries the trait. See the Magic Class Page for more information.
Human + Human = Human
Blutsauger + Blutsauger = Blutsauger
Lycanthrope + Lycanthrope = Lycanthrope
Human + Blutsauger = 50% chance Human, 50% chance Blutsauger
*Human + Lycanthrope = 10% chance Human, 90% chance Lycanthrope
**Blutsauger + Lycanthrope = 50% chance Human, 50% chance Blutsauger
*Humans are very susceptible to becoming Lycanthropes if they have intimate relationships with Lycanthropes, and therefore have a high chance of passing it to their children. See the Lycanthropes section for more information.
**Blutsaugers are immune to Lycanthropy, and thereby the genes of the Lycanthrope parent revert to "human" traits.
***Cyborgs are humans with extra parts. They can catch lycanthropy, and will pass on the genes the same as the humans.
TIMELINE OF THE RACES
This is in relative time to the site.
This is just a general overview of which race is older, and how old characters parents can be.
BLUTSAUGERS
Erasmus created the blutsaugers roughly 350 years ago. However, the population lost a major portion during a blood shortage. Blutsaugers were out of control and the King at the time ordered their execution, only some were spared--though who brought forth new ways to ensure that Blutsaugers always had a food source. That brought the eldest living blutsauger to roughly 200 years of age. And then yet another, large portion was lost in the War on Magic. The eldest blutsauger alive today is 132 years old, and is Arasmus Nyler (grandson of Erasmus), the Leader of the Left Hand. He managed to go underground as he lost comrades in war. Most Blutsaugers that were this old were executed, especially if they sported magic, as the older the Blutsauger, the more grimoires or kits they probably have. There may be some Blutsaugers without magic of any kind who are older than 132 years.
LYCANTHROPES
Erasmus found the first instance of lycanthropy (in his wife, Clarisse, and her lover) 300 years ago. The population has never dwindled, it's spreading like wildfire. Therefore, the oldest known lycanthropes can be toward the end of their lives, 110-125 years of age.
AGE CHART
SPECIES | AGE | PUBERTY | AGE IN RELATION TO APPEARANCE | PREGNANCY LENGTH |
Humans | Female: 95-160 Male: 98-165 | 11-21 | Humans stop aging at a normal cellular rate after puberty. Therefore, if you have a human who is fifty, they may appear to be thirty. This is left to player choice. | 9 months (3 OOC months) |
Cyborgs | Female: Unknown Male: Unknown | 11-21 | Cyborgs stop aging at a normal cellular rate after puberty. Therefore, if you have a cyborg who is fifty, they may appear to be thirty. This is left to player choice, and can even be altered as a part of their modifications that make them a cyborg in the first place. | 6 months (2 OOC months) |
Blutsaugers | Female: 95-230 Male: 98-245 | Whenever they reach the end of their metamorphosis. This is left to the player to decide. | Blutsaugers never aged at a proper pace. Ever since their creation they have aged slow in relation to the more human races. However not all Blutsaugers age the same. You may have some who appear younger, while other appear older. This is left to the player to decide. | 9 months (3 OOC months) |
Lycanthropes | Female: 95-110 Male: 98-125 | 11-21 | Lycanthropes stop aging at a normal cellular rate after puberty. Therefore, if you have a lycan who is fifty, they may appear to be thirty. This is left to player choice. | 9 months (3 OOC months) |
