Arasmus pursed his lips, and pulled away from her entirely. He studied her silently, and murmured, "You negotiate well, Princess." He moved to stand, murmuring, "I did not raise a hand, physically, against your mother. I imagine that, whoever is in charge of the royal healing, did not do a good enough job." His tone was gentle, as he moved toward the door. "You will be free to roam within the Underground as you wish, Eloise."
Of course the main entrance/exit would be guarded, though it was always so--the guards were always stationed outside of the entrance/exit, to ensure none of Arasmus's children got into too much trouble or that nobody who did not belong stumbled upon them. He'd add an extra guard. "Would you like more ice cream?"

Post by Eloise St. Germaine on Aug 7, 2018 9:26:29 GMT -5
It both surprised and pleased her that Arasmus actually moved away from her. He didn’t have to after all, she was powerless against him in more ways than one. But perhaps there was more to this Herz thing that she had ever imagined – perhaps the order itself was the source of power she commanded over him. It seemed far fetched but any glimmer of hope was worth clinging to these days.
He still insisted he was not to blame for her mother’s death, and she refused to respond to the ridiculous notion that the royal healers had simply been lax in their care. It was a preposterous assertion. But the offer for more ice cream was tempting as she glared down at her skirts, feeling lost and confused as tumultuous emotions ebbed and flowed. “Yes, I would.” She said simply, knowing the sweet treat would only help her bury her emotions for a time.
Time Jump to Present Day
Ever since her first escape attempt and the realization that her mother had died, Eloise had had more freedom believe it or not. It was the proverbial olive branch Arasmus had extended, allowing her to wander the corridors of the left hand without supervision. Well…less supervision. People were always watching wherever she went, and the closer she was to the entrance the more eyes were on her. It was disheartening. But she knew she just had to bide her time. She would find a way out of this place eventually.
And that time came after three more months of waiting.
One of Arasmus’s children came to lock her in her room for the night. The youngest ones were the sweetest – but also prone to the most mistakes. Apparently one of the older children who usually did this task had gotten lazy and asked a younger sibling to do so this evening. When the child closed the door, Eloise didn’t hear the familiar heavy thud of the deadbolt – it was too tight a knob for the child to turn and they had only been successful in turning it part of the way before they pitter pattered off to their own bed. This was her chance.
Eloise quickly changed from her nightgown into a pair of shortened trousers and a loose top, boots, and a hooded cloak. She always wore dresses so the disguise should be enough to keep people from being terribly suspicious of her. But she didn’t leave immediately. No, she waited until the dead of night – the wee hours of the morning when most everyone was well asleep.
Carefully she pulled the door open and peeked out, pleased but unsurprised to see no one about. Then she headed down the hall at a quick pace towards the entrance, pausing before rounding the last corner. Another peek showed luck was indeed on her side. There were many guards of course but at this hour they grew bored and tired, beginning to doze off. She would ultimately have to make a break for it, but for the moment stuck to the shadows along the wall, hidden in the darkness. Mere feet from the entrance and the guards she waited again, almost holding her breath. When all the guards had a moment of poor judgement and dozed, she took her chance, bolting out the door, successfully making it out into the sweet night air. Of course, she still wasn’t sure where she was but for now, she bolted towards the forest, where no doubt she could hide.
But her escape was not fool proof. The flutter of her cape woke the guards and at seeking a hooded figure dashing to the woods, they sounded the alarm.

Arasmus had been doing something with one of the babies when he first learned that Eloise St. Germaine had gotten away... She was gone. Out of the compound. He was furious, and the infant was left with its mother. He carried himself swiftly to the exit, swearing quietly. He shouted an order, and many off-duty guards came rushing through the compound, taking off into the forest. Arasmus stood in the doorway, narrowing his gaze. She was trying to escape from him and a part of that fact hurt him... Hurt him dearly. Carefully he extracted himself from the compound, moving towards the forest, which was now flooded with his men. He knew of a few lycans who roamed the area--most predominantly were the Duchess La Damme, and her lover, Raleigh Cooper. He was certain they were out playing; and that was just dangerous for an unarmed princess. He knew La Damme enjoyed her victims afraid... running. Arasmus waved a hand, casting a portal spell from one of his rings, and as he stepped through it he would appear in the forest, his fingers curling around his staff so hard that his knuckles were a deathly white color. "Eloise St. Germaine," he called, "there are things in this forest worse than I." He walked, slowly, confident that he would find her. "Things that will tear you apart, Little Dear." He snarled the last words. One of the guards, one of Arasmus' sons, came upon the princess though he did not call for his father, whose voice could be heard throughout the forest. Instead he decided he wanted to have a moment of fun with her, before returning her in almost-perfect condition. He would aim to grab her arm, twisting it hard and of course, if he had grabbed her, he would shove her to the ground, pressing her face into the dirt. Suffocating her so she could not scream as his hand fumbled with her clothes.

Eloise was running as fast as she could, her lungs burning from the exertion of it. Her body wasn’t used to this sort of aerobic activity and it was only the adrenaline of finally being free that kept her going; as well as that from the fear of being recaptured. Of course, when Arasmus’ voice rang out through the forest, she began to fear that she wouldn’t make it anywhere safe before he found her again. Had this all been in vain? It couldn’t be, this had to work.
But it wasn’t meant to be.
Her arm was painfully snatched and she screamed in alarm as she fell forward, face pressed into the ground. Immediately she began to panic, managing to turn her face to the side so she could breathe. She fought and struggled against whoever held her, thankful her clothing was not so easy to remove as a gown would have been as she realized what he was doing. “Let me go this instant! If not my father Arasmus will kill you for this!” she screamed at him, the most coherent threat she could string together in that moment, tears beginning to well in her eyes. “Let me know now!” Suddenly she was hoping Arasmus would hear and find her, to save her from whatever this man had in mind for her.
